Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy:
EMDR therapy is a mental health treatment technique. This method involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process traumatic memories. EMDR's goal is to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.
I use EMDR in my session with clients who are targeting specific things. I used EMDR for clients who want to only see me for this type of treatment. I also may use interventions taken from EMDR to help talk therapy progress. This is always your choice and I work from a consent and informed place.

Neuro-Affective Relational Model
The NeuroAffective Relational Model(NARM) is an advanced clinical training for mental health professionals who work with complex trauma. NARM is a cutting-edge model for addressing attachment, relational and developmental trauma, by working with the attachment patterns that cause life-long psychobiological symptoms and interpersonal difficulties.
I went to this training in 2022 and it influences how I engage with the client by gaining more active informed consent. Also being more curious with clients. This uses, somatic, mindfulness reflective processing and collaborative spirit.

Emotional Freedom Tapping
EFT tapping is a mind-body method of tapping acupuncture points (acupoints) on the hands, face, and body with your fingertips while focusing on an issue or feeling you're hoping to resolve. This method may reduce stress and anxiety, improve performance, lessen cravings, and help resolve fears.
I use this a lot as it’s an effective intervention and a tool that clients can take home.
Somatic Mindfulness therapy
The practice of focusing attention on the present experience in a way that is non-judgemental. Somatic counseling, also known as somatic experiencing therapy, or SE therapy, is a type of therapy that helps treat post-traumatic stress and effects from other mental health conditions. This type of therapy connects a person's mind and body to apply psychotherapy and physical therapies during treatment.
I’ve picked this up along the way. I have lots of tools to help clients shift in how they relate to their trauma experiences. This approach often extends to being aware of what’s coming up in the present. It allows for that space and time to be present and works to extend the time of presence.
Spiritually-Focused Therapy
I have a bachelors degree in Anthropology I’m culturally aware and I am a student of spirituality and religious thought. I believe that faith and spirituality is a large resource for people who value this in their life. Whatever faith or spiritual practice you have it informs you of your world view and can bring clarity to how you move forward in life. I myself have my own spiritual practice. I am a priest in an afro-cuban religion. As a white person being in a religion that worships black demi-gods, I feel humbled to have been allowed to initiate in February 2024. Many of my elders do not speak English and have grown up in this religion and I work to align myself to honor the traditions that I have been taught and be mindful of what a sacred space I’ve been invited into. Your journey maybe different, your alignment may look different and it’s okay to bring this into therapy as a lens to explore.
Advocacy and Privilege
To be clear I am anti-racist, anti-transphobia, anti-queer, anti-ableism. If you are my client I need you to know that’s who I am. I do believe that people need to have therapists that can see the barriers in this world to access and privilege that prevent marginalized groups from living a fair and equitable life. This space is safe for you and I'm open to hearing how my areas of privilege impact you as my client, so you can also feel like this is a safe space for you. No need to do the emotional labor of education. I will do that on my own.
